The model

Principal-led
Personal always

We're not a full-service agency. We're a boutique branding studio for founders and small teams — one that takes fewer clients on purpose and gives every engagement the kind of personal, principal-led attention the work actually deserves.

◆ Start here

A distinctly recognizable brand isn't reserved for global companies with nine-figure budgets. Regardless of industry, size, or tenure — separating your business from the noise is non-negotiable. Sure, you're great at what you do. The question is who knows about it.

01

Our story
in short.

since 2020, somewhere in Texas.

Pop Waffle was co-founded in 2020 by Roby and Rayne Robertson, in Dallas, around one stubborn rule: no brand ships if it wouldn't survive in the founder's own hands.

The founding bet was simple. The same level of craft Fortune 500s pay big agencies millions for could be delivered to founders, small teams, and regional businesses — if the practice was structured for it. Direct access to the creative principal. Work directed by a senior hand from kickoff to launch. Operations run by people who care as much about the business as the creative. Specialists brought in when the project calls for them. No revolving door, no account layer, no pitches without research.

Years later, the rule hasn't moved. Fewer clients than a conventional agency of equivalent reputation. More hours per engagement. Every touchpoint personally directed. The clients have changed — oil and gas, cybersecurity, SaaS, and more — but the principle hasn't.

That's the whole story. Everything else is just details.

◆ The greatest hits

A short history of the shop.

2020

The studio opens.

Practice founded in Dallas with one brief, one founder, and zero portfolio.

2021

First rebrand ships.

First full rebrand lands in market. First client referral arrives. The shape of the work starts to settle.

2023

The practice finds its shape.

Network of trusted specialists takes form. Deliberately small book of clients becomes a policy, not an accident.

2025

Current book.

Three live engagements. Oil & gas. Cybersecurity. Productivity SaaS.

◆ What we believe

Four rules
we refuse to bend.

01 ◆ First principle

Challenge the status quo.

Category conventions are a starting line, not a finish line. If a client's sector has "rules," we ask who made them and whether they still apply — especially when they don't.

02 ◆ Second principle

Think abstractly.

Good brand work lives in the space between the obvious answer and the weird one. We start every engagement by writing down the obvious, then using it as a map of where not to go.

03 ◆ Third principle

Deliver deliberately.

Every decision gets a reason. Every file gets named right. Every handoff is usable without a translator. A brand system is only good if the team inherits it without needing us in the room.

04 ◆ Fourth principle

Measure maniacally.

Months after launch, we check the scoreboard — recognition, recall, candidate quality, close rate. If the work isn't earning its keep, we want to know before you do.

03
◆ The fine print

What we won't do.

01

We won't pitch ideas we haven't researched.

Speculative decks are a good way to sell a bad idea. We won't do them — and you shouldn't trust anyone who will.

02

We won't hand you off after the pitch.

The principal who directs your kickoff is the principal who ships your work. No account managers, no junior hand-offs, no guess-who-shows-up-on-launch-day.

03

We won't take work that doesn't fit the shop.

If the brief is better served by a bigger agency — or a smaller one — we'll tell you. We turn down more work than we accept.

04

We won't design around your CEO's mood.

Opinions are welcome — we'll ask for them. Design by consensus of one is how good work gets diluted to nothing.

05

We won't recommend work that doesn't move your business.

A beautiful brand that doesn't help you hire, sell, or raise is just expensive decoration.

06

We won't ghost you after launch.

Three-month, six-month, and twelve-month check-ins are built into every engagement. We stay close until the brand doesn't need us anymore.

◆ The people behind it

Two co-founders.
Direct access.

Every engagement runs through the creative principal, Roby — from kickoff to launch. Operations run through Rayne as COO. A small corporate group handles finance, engineering, and infrastructure. Specialists from the network join when the brief calls for them. No account managers. No revolving door.
